Thanksgiving Traffic Tips

Wow, time flies by! We can’t believe that November is already here. Soon enough, Thanksgiving will be upon us. We recognize that holidays might look a little different this year, but just if you are planning a holiday road trip, the team at Nordgren Automotive wants you to stay safe with these Thanksgiving traffic tips.

Before we begin discussing our Thanksgiving traffic tips, the team at Nordgren Automotive would first like to show our appreciation to you and your family. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve you and service your vehicle, and we look forward to sharing many more Thanksgivings with you! Here are our Thanksgiving traffic tips:

  • If you would like to take a road trip, make sure to plan ahead to beat the traffic. The Thanksgiving traffic starts Tuesday evening and peaks Wednesday afternoon. We recommend not traveling between 4 pm to 7 pm on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. If you absolutely have to drive on Wednesday, try to leave before 2 pm or after 7 pm. On your way back, avoid traveling Sunday. Instead, try driving back on Saturday or Monday.

  • If you do happen to be stuck in traffic, remember to take a deep breath and stay calm! We are in a hurry during the holidays, either racing to that socially-distanced gathering or the grocery store. Either way, we have to keep in mind that slow and steady wins the race. Getting frustrated, unfortunately, won’t get you there any faster.

  • Make sure to get rid of all distractions when stuck in traffic. It is especially tempting to reach for our phones when stuck in a traffic jam at a complete stop. However, distracted driving is the leading cause of rear-end collisions in slow traffic.

  • Say no to rubbernecking! When we see a crash or any other drama while driving through traffic, we can’t help but slow down to get a better look. Rubbernecking leads to more traffic and makes delays take even longer.

If you are planning a Thanksgiving road trip, we recommend bringing your vehicle to Nordgren Automotive for an inspection. We don’t want you to deal with any surprises while on your holiday trip. Schedule your visit online or call the Nordgren Automotive team with your questions.
